Descended from Margaret Moscrop, who died at Prior Scale in 1638. Direct line via, High Prior Scales, Beckcote, High Broad Ley, Croasdale, Irton, Flimby and now Millom, in Cumberland. After 360 years have only moved 25 miles from Prior Scales. Have managed to connect 1500 names to Margaret Moscrop's family.

Nick's is descended from Christian Agnew Mossop (1866 - 1950) (http://home.clara.net/balshaw/people/chrim867.htm) of Quarry Brow, Gosforth, who married Mayson Penn.

It is professionally put together and contains many additional items on how to start looking for family information. It also show's alternative sites to visit. This site encouraged me to start up the Mossop Home Pages, since a number of enquires were originated by people using Nick's site.

Researching the Mossop's in Cumbria ( which was previously called Cumberland) . Jill is descended from the marriage of Clement Mossop born Thornholme 1730, son of Moses of Rottington, and Eleanor Walker who married 15 August 1766 at St James, Whitehaven . Their daughter Hannah born 1770 married William Fox of St Bee's. Jill is descended from Catherine Fox born 1802. Jill and myself have worked very closely for a number of years on the Mossop Family tree.
I would like to acknowledge the huge amount of Mossop research carried out by Jill. She must have spent many hours retyping "The Mossop Papers" (which are a collection of Mossop information, researched and collected by the late Dr Mossop, who died about 1910) and making them available to fellow researchers.
Jill has also produced a book about Margaret Moscrop from Prior Scale, which shows how the Mossop family spread from farm to farm.

Leonie and Nick Balshaw are closely related. Tom Mossop, her Great Grandfather and Nick's Great Great Grandmother Christian Agnew were brother and sister, both children of William Mossop and Elizabeth ( nee Agnew).
